Welcome to Call Relay, owned and operated by Call Relay Inc. (collectively, "Call Relay"). Call Relay provides an online venue and services that connect users for private, pay-per-minute phone calls (the "Services"), which Services are accessible at www.callrelay.app and any other websites through which Call Relay makes the Services available (collectively, the "Site").
This Privacy Policy describes how Call Relay collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our Site and Services. By accessing or using the Site or Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect various types of information to provide and improve our Services to you.
Information You Provide Directly:
- Account Information: When you register for a Call Relay Account, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, and password. You may also provide additional profile information.
- Service-Related Information: Information you provide when using our Services, such as details related to calls, scheduling, or any content you post, upload, publish, submit, or transmit through the Site or Services ("User Content").
- Payment Information: If you engage in transactions through our Services, you will provide billing information such as your name, billing address, and credit card details to us or our third-party payment processors.
- Identity & Age-Verification Information: Where verification is required (for example, before an Expert receives payouts, or before a user may access age-restricted communications), we and our third-party verification providers may collect a government-issued identification document, your date of birth, a photograph or selfie, and the result of the identity or age check. We retain a record that verification was completed, as described under Data Retention.
- Communications: Records of your communications with Call Relay, including support inquiries.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Usage Data: We collect information about your interactions with our Site and Services, such as pages viewed, features used, and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities.
- Log Data: Our servers automatically record information ("Log Data") created by your use of the Services. Log Data may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, approximate location, and other information.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier.
2. How We Use Your Information

3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information in the following ways:
- With Other Users: When you schedule a call, certain information such as your name and phone number is shared with the other party involved in the call to facilitate the connection.
- Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party companies to operate the Services, including (but not limited to) Twilio (phone-call connectivity and call-quality metrics), a third-party payment processor (payment processing), MailChannels (delivery of transactional email, such as sign-in links and notifications), Google Cloud Platform (cloud hosting and data storage), and a third-party identity-verification provider (identity and age verification). These providers may access your personal information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it and not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Business Transfers: If Call Relay is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or bankruptcy, your personal information may be transferred as a business asset.
- Legal Requirements and Law Enforcement: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency). We may also disclose your information to enforce our policies, respond to claims that any content violates the rights of others, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Call Relay, our users, or the public.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when we have your explicit consent to do so.
4. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
5. Phone Call Data
As a pay-per-minute phone-call service, we handle specific types of call-related data:
- Call Recordings: Call Relay does not record call audio in the ordinary course of providing the Services. We may record, monitor, retain, or disclose call audio or related data where we believe it reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, prevent fraud or abuse, protect the safety of users or the public, or enforce our Terms.
- Call Metadata: We collect call metadata for billing and service delivery purposes, including call duration, timestamp, participant phone numbers, and call status (completed, missed, etc.). This data is stored securely and retained for a reasonable period for billing, operational, and legal compliance purposes.
- Phone Numbers: Phone numbers are stored in E.164 international format (e.g., +1-555-123-4567) to ensure proper routing and delivery.
- Transcripts and AI: We may use automated and machine-learning tools to route calls, detect fraud or abuse, screen for unlawful content, and operate and improve the Services. We do not use the content of your conversations for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.
- Encryption: Call-related data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS). We otherwise protect it using the safeguards described under Data Security above.
- Third-Party Service Providers: We use Twilio to connect phone calls and a third-party payment processor to process payments. These service providers have access to relevant data only as necessary to provide their services, and we contractually require them to protect your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
6. California Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of California, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share. This policy describes the categories of information we collect.
- Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., for fraud prevention, completing transactions, or complying with legal obligations).

7. Your Choices and Rights
- Account Information & Deletion: You may review and update your account information in your account settings. You may also delete your account at any time; for your protection, we confirm the request through a link we email to you before anything is deleted. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except records we retain as described in Data Retention below (for example, billing, tax, and fraud-prevention records).
- Communications: You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in those emails. Please note that we may still send you non-promotional messages relating to your account or our ongoing business relations.
- Cookies: Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. 8. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 18. 9. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services and to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, after which we delete or de-identify it. Retention periods vary by the type of information:
- Account information (name, email): kept while your account is active; deleted or de-identified after you delete your account, except where we must retain it to meet a legal obligation.
- Call and payment records (call metadata, wallet and transaction history): retained as long as needed for billing, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution, and legal-compliance purposes.
- Messages and uploaded files: retained until you or the other participant delete them, or until your account is deleted.
- Logs and security data (such as IP logs): retained for a limited period sufficient for security, fraud-prevention, and operational needs.
- Identity and age-verification records: the record that a user passed identity or age verification (and supporting data our providers return) is retained for as long as needed to evidence our compliance with age-restriction and anti-fraud obligations, and is then deleted or de-identified.
Information may also persist for a limited time in routine encrypted backups after it has been deleted from our active systems.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
